Philosophy of Teaching

Teachers at Crosscreek Charter School use a developmentally appropriate, multisensory, integrated, experiential, differentiated method of instruction.

What does this mean?

Developmentally Appropriate: We understand how children grow and develop, and we make sure that our activities and our expectations are reasonable and enjoyable.

Multisensory: We plan learning activities that involve all of the senses.

Integrated: We teach skills from various subject areas together within a context…much like it exits in the real world.

Experiential: Children will be active participants in the learning process.  They will have lots of opportunities to do lessons, to practice new skills, and to try out and discover concepts.

Differentiated: We understand that children develop at different rates.  We respect individual differences and we plan activities that are appropriate for the particular child.

What does this look like?

Children:   Eager to learn                            Engaged in the learning process

Welcoming to visitors                 Uses resources wisely
