FACULTY BIOGRAPHIES

 

Administrative

 

Mrs. Robin Jackson is the Director of Crosscreek Charter School.  She has been in education for over 18 years.  Mrs. Jackson earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science from North Carolina State University.  She also holds a graduate degree in Educational Leadership from NCSU. 

Angie Brooks is our capable NC Wise and Office Manager. She has been with the school since the latter part of the school's first year, (2001-2002).  She has over 13 years experience, with education and training, in administration and office management.  She is a native Franklin County resident.  Angie coordinates and maintains all of the school's student records as well as manages the office. 

 

Allison Roberson is the Assistant to the Director.  She has been working for CCS since 2005.  She served on the Board of Directors from 2001 through 2004.  She lives in Wake Forest with her husband and two children.


Ms. Ethel is our Administrative Assistant.  Ms. Ethel has been at our school since 2005.  She is from Norwalk, Connecticut, originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  She lives in Franklinton with her husband, Rudy and her cockatiel named Susie.

 


Kindergarten Team

Denise Mannette is an exceptional Kindergarten Teacher.  She has been with CCS since 2003.  She has a BA and MS and 20 years experience.  She lives in Wake forest with her husband and six kids.  Her students love Music and Movement.  They don't even need to be told twice when its time to begin.  The students love her!


Jennifer Daily our kindergarten assistant. She has a BA in Theater Arts and has worked with CCS since 2005. She has been volunteering at CCS for a long time.  She was the Volunteer Coordinator in 2004-2005 and did an excellent job. 

 


First Grade Team

 

Pam Gilliam teaches first grade at CCS.  She truly enjoys working with young children.  She has a BA and over eight years experience.  She graduated from Louisburg High School and Meredith College. 


 

Terra Cook is our first grade teacher assistant. This is her second year at Crosscreek.  She a BA in Psychology and went to graduate school at the University of Colorado to become a Counselor, her last year she decided to change her career path.  Terra & her family are from Colorado, now living in the Lake Royale area with her husband and 2 children, Zac  & Noah.

 

 

Second Grade Team
 

 

 

Rhonda Harris our second grade assistant has been with CCS since 2002.. She had previous experience in the Franklin County Schools. Ms. Rhonda is a Franklin County native. She and her husband Fred live in Louisburg with their two children.



Third Grade Team


 

Kris Hornick teaches third grade at Crosscreek. She received her BS in Elementary Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and moved south to get away from the snow.  She lives in the Bunn Area with husband, Steve and her son, Tyler.



Robin Miller has been an assistant at CCS since 2002. She taught pre-school for a number of years before joining the faculty here. She has over nine years experience.  Ms. Robin and her husband Charles have two children. 

Fourth Grade Team

Joy Widmann
teaches fourth grade. She has been a teacher at CCS since 2003, previously teaching second grade.  She received NC Teacher Certification from Meredith College, where she graduated with a degree in Public History. Joy also attended Louisburg College, following three generations of her family as LC alumni. Joy's family ties to Franklin County go back several hundred years to when Louisburg was a part of Bute County. She lives in Louisburg with her husband and two children.


Fifth Grade Team


Wendy Strickland is our fifth grade teacher.  She has a BA in Elementary Ed. and has six years experience.  She is from Roxboro, but now lives in Louisburg with her husband.
 

Sherry Caldwell our 4th and 5th grades assistant.  She joined us 2007 substituting, when asked to become a TA she welcomed the opportunity.  Sherry and her family moved to North Carolina August 2006 from Pennsylvania.  Prior to coming to North Carolina Sherry worked as a TA for Northwestern Intermediate Unit IV, teaching special needs children.  Her interests are art, gardening, cooking and reading.


Sixth Grade

 

Chris McClain has been teaching at CCS since 2005. She began teaching 6th grade math and science, moved to 1st grade, and then returned to 6th this year (2007-08). She is originally from St. Louis, where she got her BS in Elementary Education. She moved to Youngsville in 2005, where she lives with her husband, Jay, daughter, Carson, and 2 dogs, Jasmine and Sparky.

 

Seventh & Eigth Grades

 

Susan Roberson Johnson presently our 7th & 8th grade teacher. She has a BS in Biology from Millsaps College, Jackson, MS., she also has a MS and PhD in Veterinary Science with specialization in Virology from Washington State University.  Susan moved from Chillicothe, Ohio, there she was co-founder of a small private school teaching K-6 Science.  She has 3 children Tyler, Lucas and Emma.

 

PE

 
Chris Hartsfield joined us in January 2007 teaching Social Studies to 6th grade and PE to grades 6-8.  This school year (2007-2008) he is our PE teacher for grades K-8.  "Fondly called Mr. PE."  Mr. Hartsfield lives in the Louisburg area with his wife and 2 children.

 



Exceptional Children Department

Susette Spivey EC Coordinator and has worked at Crosscreek since its first year of operation. She has a BA in Sociology with 40 plus hours in Family Relations an Child Development and Special Education.  
 

Academic Coordinator

 

Tara Hewitt is enjoying her second year here with us as Academic Coordinator.  She has 11 years of teaching experience in grades K-8 and has also owned a tutoring center for students in grades K-8.  She attended Appalachian State University, where she met her husband, Kirk, while they were touring in a Children's Theatre Company.  Their 5 year old daughter, Keaveny, keeps them busy and is their true joy.
